I knew I recognized Wallace's voice! I haven't seen Wallace & Gromit in years, so when I heard his murmurs to himself in the car, I was like, "I know that voice ..."
It was Peter Sallis! From Last of the Summer Wine on PBS! Cleggy! Norman Clegg! That's why he sounded so familiar. (skip to 2:24, he's the one sipping tea; skip to 3:20 to hear him talking for a straight bit)
I'm surprised and pleased to see that Peter Sallis gets to go down in British history not once but twice, both as the longest-running British sitcom character ever and as the lovable claymation star Wallace.
