Arkady Shilkloper plays "Funk Horn"
Arkady Shilkloper plays an original composition on the alphorn with the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin. I saw this clip a couple weeks ago and didn't think much of it at the time. But since then, the song has continued replaying in my head. So now I'd say it's worth a post!

This is pretty desperate. :\ Original composition for harp, okay. Original composition for trombone, maybe. Original composition for the alphorn? The instrument is far too weak and limited in range to serve as a lead instrument. The trombone is also limited in range, but at least it's powerful. The harp is weak, but modern technology allows it to be heard over other instruments -- and not only does it have an excellent range, but the music it makes is beautiful to boot!
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being super-professional & jaw-dropping, 8 being super-professional normal fanfare or being amateur work that's jaw-dropping, and 1 being god-awful "never play music again! @_@" bad, I'd place this at a 4 or 5. It's a really unimpressive piece, and the supposed lead instrument (a) fails to impress, and (b) plays for less than 20% of the song.
Now listen as it mysteriously gets stuck in your head! You know you want to watch it one more time...just one more time...
Nope. I don't even want to click on it to prove you wrong, let alone click on it out of some desire to hear it for my own delight.
It would be a waste of my 4 minutes and 15 seconds ago to sit through that.
In other news, even your less-impressive works are 10 to 100x better than this fellow's, so if you like his stuff, maybe it goes to show how hard you are on yourself. ;p
