Scott Brown Elected!

Congratulations, Massachusetts! You've elected a Republican senator who plans to use his vote to block national health care.

Democrats, oh democrats, why are you so ineffectual, timid, and stupid?

::sigh::

Apparently, a former classmate of mine has written over 1,000 words on this in Facebook status updates. Haven't seen any of 'em yet, though, since I put him on a comparatively low ranking for my newsfeed. If I see anything amusing, though, I'll be sure to share it with you.

Personally?
(1) I think this is a classic case of sour grapes. Whatever the causes were, if we can rule out fraud then all I have to say to the Democrats is STFU.

(2) I agree with those who have pointed out that this shouldn't be thought of as Edward Kennedy's seat, i.e. we should recognize that a seat is not forever blue or forever red just because of the person who previously occupied it.

(3) I agree with those who have pointed out that it is pretty sore/sad, though, for Edward Kennedy's ghost and/or for his loved ones and allies, seeing as (indeed) he was a strong proponent for national health and his death may very well mean the death of the (current) bill.

(4) If Massachusettsians (what do you call 'em, btw?) don't like Scott Brown, aren't they eligible to remove him from office come November 2010? Or was this (for all intents and purposes) his 6-years-in-office election which means he doesn't need to run again until 2015 (leading into the November 2016 election)?

If you're from Mass, you're a Masshole (now more than ever!)

In all seriousness, what are they normally called? :)

Well, when I asked Mike, resident all his life, masshole was his first answer lol. have a second answer. I like John Adams way of referring to himself and his sons as a "Massachusetts man". I suppose the suffix -ian might be good too. But honestly, believe it or not, I've heard masshole more than anything else.
