I have to say, this scene from the vampire sex-soap opera True Blood, wherein some semblance of an explanation for the existence of vampires is offered, just about ruins the show for me. Skip to 1:37.
It's magic, guys! Okay?

Of all the moments in that 3 minutes and 25 seconds of train wreckage, the magic bit was probably the least offensive to me. Even with the bias you provided to interpret your way, my own innate interpretation of that dialogue proved too strong, I guess, and I totally perceived his explanation as being a cheesy, pseudo-romantic way of dodging the question -- NOT the actual answer.
Definitely, the #1 thing that killed me in that video link was both of their horribly fake accents that they kept dropping out of. Paquin juggled between legit Southern, pseudo-Southern, and straight-up MidWest no-accent, whereas the dude whose face I don't recognize juggled between pseudo-Southern, no accent, and pseudo-English (towards the end, when he talked about how humans had killed so many vampires).
Bad acting killed this scene much more than bad writing, Jay, though bad writing definitely played a part. I feel bad for the cameraman, whose professional name is tarnished by shit like this but whose work was par for the course as far as made-for-tv movies go.
I love this show. Its cheesy and fun. I understand the writing is bad, but man do I love that they made this show. Its just fun entertainment for me. Jozef, Louis and I watch it whenever its on.
Also, Sookie is the worst name and actress on the show.(Rogue from x-men)
Well, I have to admit, I'm sort of hooked on the show. But it definitely feels like a soap opera or cheesy romance novel, which are themselves not unlike train wrecks: it's gruesome and cringeworthy, but I can't look away!
I've read the first 3 or 4 books (then I gave up since they kinda sucked) want me to ruin it for you? It'll save you about 10 hours.
