Sarah Palin's Pregnancy Decision Map

Play along! Do you have what it takes to be the Republican nominee for vice president?

The first picture I saw of Sarah Palin was actually not of Sarah Palin but of a beautiful model who some people say looks like Sarah. No resemblance. One look at the real Sarah's face and I immediately think "soccer mom." She looks like Nancy Pelosi except NOT emaciated. And god damn does Sarah have crusty mascara and lipstick. UGH.

Looks like it wasn't her baby after all; she was covering up for her 17-year old daughter. And the GOP, in just as firebrand a gamble as selecting Palin herself, has decided to out this secret early on and spin it as proof that the Palins:
a) are simple folk,
b) are just like the rest of "us", and
c) are pro-life

It almost makes me wonder if she didn't encourage her (then) 16-17 year old daughter to become pregnant in the first place just so that Sarah could put her teenage daughter on exhibit for the pro-life platform, but the oldest sites I've seen so far of political bloggers scouting Palin as a VP candidate are from May of 2008 so no dice, I guess.

Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, and I guess I won't be showing this picture to anybody at school tomorrow now. *crumples printed-off piece of paper*

Last I checked, Palin is sticking with her story that she is the mother of Trig (which would make the decision map still valid) while also admitting that, currently, her 17 year old daughter is pregnant.

On the one hand, I'm totally with Obama and agree that as far as politics is concerned, this family matter is personal and off limits. But on the other hand, you can't shake the underlying questions about Palin's stance on sex-ed and abstinence.

Yeah you can. There's a modest but not strong correlation, in my opinion, between the extent to which a parent encourages their child to avoid pre-adulthood sex and the extent to which the sexually-hyperactive teenager goes ahead and fucks like rabbit with his girl (or guy) friend of choice.

I was going to say "arguably the same for drug abuse" but I quickly saw the retort that good parents will throw their kid into rehab if need be to break him of his addiction to drugs. Therein lies the problem with teen pregnancy: all it takes is once to get pregnant. It doesn't always happen, but it can and it does.

Anyway, this was the article that confused me. I say "poorly-written," they'd probably argue "poorly-read", but in the end I read this and walked away thinking that:
1) Sarah Palin had had a Down's syndrome baby in the last week
2) But all along she was actually covering up for her teenage daughter
