God Plays New Joke on Human Race

Drug-resistant tuberculosis. That sure is some amazing design. What a kind, merciful God!

The problem with XDR-TB is a "swamp 'n' sink the lifeboat" one. James' colleagues explain it here:

TB can usually be treated with a course of four standard, or "first-line," anti-TB drugs. If these drugs are misused or mismanaged, multidrug resistant TB (MDR-TB) can develop. MDR-TB takes longer to treat, and requires "second-line" drugs that are more expensive and have more side effects. XDR-TB can develop when these second-line drugs are also misused or mismanaged and become ineffective. Treatment options for XDR-TB are seriously limited.

The point to take home from this is:
- poorer nations are to blame for creating XDR-TB,
- not because they are to be blamed for not being able to afford the expensive drug regimens needed to fight TB,
- but because despite not being able to afford drug regimens they still decided to improperly, immorally go ahead and use some of the drugs some of the time anyway: a half-hearted regimen, one that they could actually afford, but one which resulted in XDR-TB emergence.

In addition:
- rich nations are to blame for creating XDR-TB,
- not because they themselves improperly administered the drugs,
- nor because it is their fiscal responsibility to help other nations manage their affairs,
- but because they saw the imminent danger that desperate, poorer nations posed and yet they did nothing,
- placing profits before human lives,
- and ignoring the reality that their selfish refusal to help fight XDR-TB abroad would usher in an era of global XDR-TB, including XDR-TB in their very own homes.

It is human selfishness that has created this disaster: desperate selfishness of the dying poor and greedy selfishness of the healthy rich.

James' video makes it seem as though the poorer nations are the tragic victims in this scenario and that we rich citizens can do something to help out, so all I want you to appreciate is that the global community is to be blamed for the emergence of drug-resistant strains of disease-causing organisms.

Because none of us can seriously believe for even one second that a desperate man left with no options would submit to our protocols. What an absurd notion. When you're on Death's doorstep, the last thing you're going to do is play by the rules.

So the only solution is to ensure that this man is not so desperate, and that he can effortlessly follow your protocols.

James' video is a good one insofar as it encourages Westerners to get up and do something.

And honestly? Donations are the #1 thing they need to fight this off:
1) donations to give people who get regular TB or MDR-TB the opportunity to fight the drug properly with the expensive drugs they need,
2) donations to give researchers a chance to investigate better, novel ways of fighting TB in all its forms, and
3) other stuff I'm probably forgetting

ok, it's people who allowed this multiple drug-resistant strain to develop, not God. so screw off, junkie.
