Maybe it's because you've been talking about it so much, but I saw the image before seeing the title and the first thought I had was, "Man! What a grotesque picture of a face with four huge teeth coming out of this gross gummy mass! >_<"
Well, I have a difficult time seeing that...but it's funny you should make such a connection! Last night, I had a dream that I had to act out a scene from Amadeus --guess who acted in the scene with me? Why, it was none other than Orson Welles as Citizen Kane!
I think your movie list made quite an impression on my subconscious.
Oddly enough, I had to hand my costume over to John McCain after the audition so he could try out for the part. Vicodin + terrible pain = loopy dreams
((I got my dry socket patched up, so the pain has subsided somewhat and has been replaced with the chalky flavor of oil of cloves and Necco wafers))
I read about Professor Carney on Wikipedia's Citizen Kane page. He's acerbic, but I agree with several of the attacks he's levied against the film. There's no arguing (I would say) that Welles' brilliant camera work outshines the mediocre screenplay. If the movie were just about the camera work, it'd be sensational -- without even knowing how many of the cinematic techniques we take for granted Welles used for the first time in that movie, I actually stopped the DVD -- actually paused it and interrupted the movie! -- to draw my parents attention to the genius scene where he's got the sleeping draught in focus in the foreground at the same time as Kane and Kane's butler barging into Susan Alexander's bedroom in the background. If only the plot had been half as good -- no, the plot never made me pause to take it all in and rather made me want to hit Fast Forward quite a few times. :\
